Anyone have any idea as to whats happening over at the Dutchess County Jail? Heard over the radio that N. Hamilton is blocked off and a dispatcher making reference to some "activity" at the Jail.

POUGHKEEPSIE -- The Dutchess County Sheriff's office in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., was evacuated and surrounding streets closed after a shot was fired in the building Wednesday.

Was probably already in the area or assigned to a local task force or local office or something. The odds of the FBI being called before countless other agencies are slim to none.

My source on the scene there has advised that it is over - perp has shot himself. One cop was shot, but only minor injuries, thankfully. Unknown yet who the perp was, or how he got a firearm into the facility.

No, I don't think they only come from DC. FBI HRT (Hostage Rescue Team) is the one based out of Quantico/DC area. Most large field offices, like NYC, have their own SWAT teams. The nearest decent sized FBI offices to Poughkeepsie are NYC or maybe Albany.

not really they have moved a lot of offices out of NYC. Also they were doing SWAT training in Poughkeepsie today instructed by FBI from LA from what I have been told

The FBI does have an office right in Kingston....what they do there I am not sure.
