Phoenix Fire Department hiring dispatchers

PHOENIX, AZ - The City of Phoenix will accept applications for the position of Fire Emergency Dispatcher from June 1 - 12, 2009. All exam study materials will be found on-line and applications will only be accepted on-line. The written exam will be June 24, 2009.

Fire Communications Supervisor Dori Beck said the next training academy is expected to begin at the end of August or early September. Beck confirmed eight full time positions will be filled.

The Phoenix Fire Department Regional Dispatch Center (PFDRDC) provides 911 and radio dispatching services to twenty-six cities and towns in the Phoenix area, some more than 100 miles away. PFDRDC handled over 383,000 incidents in 2008. Most dispatchers work a four-ten schedule. The modern communications center is located in downtown Phoenix.
