Description Of Incident: Large gasoline spill into the water requiring HazMat mitigation

Battalion 22: Be advised we had about 7000 gallons of gasoline spilled on the deck of a boat. The boat owner has already cleaned most of it up, however we have a very strong gas odor in the area. Also notify Coast Guard and DEP and whatever other agency needed that we have some fuel in the water.

BC22: Be advised we have another boat involved at this location, start out E165, and a Foam Unit. Vessel is a gasoline barge.

BC22: Advise all incoming units to make sure they park their apparatus outside the gate of the Richmond Terrace address.

Coast Guard reports en route.

BC22: Box 979, the first barge was being offloaded onto the second barge, approximately 7000 gallons spilled on the deck which ended up in the water. The contractor cleaned up the spill which ended up in the water. At this time we have the trucks checking the surrounding piers in the water for any kind of hazardous buildup.

BC22: Box 979, we have a buoying operation, it appears to be heading towards the bridge. We need the TAC unit and we need both MARC Boats activated in the water.

DC8: At All-Hands Box 979, Division 8 reports we have the contractor on scene with a vacuum truck. We have the determined the fuel is too rich to burn. We are going with a foam operation, applying foam on top of the water.

DC8: At All-Hands Box 979, Coast Guard is on scene and evaluating the situation. We havea foam operation set up but not yet started. Conditions remain the same, we will remain Doubtful.

DC8: We have an EMS Lieutenant on scene, but we need an EMS Component. Have them respond with the assignment for an All-Hands.

DC8: At All-Hands Box 979, we have 2 vacuum trucks in operation removing gas from the water. The following addresses have been checked: 2699, 2905, 2801, and 2833 Richmond Terrace, and all are negative. We're going to keep at Doubtful.

DC8: Advise E164 and E154 they are not needed.

DC8: At All-Hands Box 979, we still have 2 vacuum trucks in operation. We have approximately 5000 gallons of gasoline that was spilled, we're going to keep at Doubtful. Safety Battalion and Battalion 21 are in the process.

Rescue Battalion is 10-8 back to Citywide

20:41 hours - Duration 2 hours 34 minutes

DC8: At All-Hands Box 979, coast Guard is conducting their investigation. The foam operation is in the command of Battalion 22. We're going to keep this at Doubtful. Rescue 5 is taking up.

21:07 hours - Duration 3 hours

DC8: At All-Hands Box 979, we're going to place this incident Under Control. The Coast Guard will handle cleanup. All units are in the process and will go 10-8 as they become available, it will be a prolonged cleanup operation.

DC8: At All-Hands Box 979, all FD operations have concluded. Coast Guard will conduct cleanup. Division 8 also requests that all odor calls in this area receive a response of 1 engine. Units on the scene are in the process. Coast Guard will assume command of the incident for the duration of cleanup.
