That starting salary is pretty low. Connecticut is not a cheap state to live in.

you know i have been thinking...i have a friend that i go to school with, he is 20 years old and is a part time LEO for some town outside of boston...he went to some academy for 3 months...does connecticut do anything similar to this???

I haven't heard of anything like that in CT. I know that some towns have part time police, but they require you to be already through the academy and I don't know (but don't think so) that you can go through the police academy as a civilian. Also, every CT department that I have seen post for openings/exams has a minimum age requirement of 21. I may be wrong though.
