April FOOLS Firefighter Safety/Survival, and Rapid Intervention Team Seminar

April 1, 2, & 3, 2005

Dates: Friday April 1st 1900 hours

Saturday and Sunday, April 2nd and 3rd 0800-1700 hours

Location: Fri night: Hampton Fire Dept, 64 Ashworth Ave, Hampton NH

Sat/Sun: Seacoast Fire Training Center off Captain Thomas Rd, Ogunquit ME

Cost: $125.00 FOOLS members

$150.00 non-FOOLS member; includes lunch both days

Synopsis:

This class will provide the firefighter with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate as a member of a Rapid Intervention Team, to perform rescues of firefighters who have become trapped or lost, and to utilize appropriate self-rescue procedures when confronted with life-threatening conditions. In addition, the firefighter will be able to recognize factors and conditions that relate to firefighter safety and survival at emergency incidents. The weekend will begin with a short classroom overview on Friday night. The rest of the weekend will then be spent conducting fast-paced hands-on drills specifically designed to improve the skills of experienced firefighters. Practical stations will cover topics such as:

Rapid Intervention Team, Introduction

Self Rescue

Principals of Firefighter Safety and Survival

Principals of Rapid Intervention Teams

RIT Operations and Firefighter Rescue
