When fire strikes, how prepared is your town?

An Exclusive Globe Investigation

into Fire Department Response Times

This Sunday, January 30

_________________________________________________________

Every day in the United States, someone dies when

firefighters arrive too late. Fire response times are a

growing problem throughout the nation and an alarming trend

right here in Massachusetts. To find out what's behind this

decline, The Globe analyzed public records of over 3 million

building fires nationwide. Be sure to check your home

delivery paper for this first-of-its-kind report, or pick up

this Sunday's Globe at a newsstand near you.

Should be interesting.

For some reason, occasionally over the past few weeks, I have seen the Sunday Boston Globe for sale at Somers 7-11 and Ardsley Luncheonette. I hear it is availabe at other newstands throughout Westchester.

It is also regularly on sale at newstand in the Danbury area, and sometimes at other newstands in Greenwich/Stamford/Norwalk and east.

It may be available on their online edition as well.

I dunno, this sounds like a bit of a fluff piece to me. I'll have to read it this weekend. But, I presume that in areas where there is a distance between firehouses and sometime a long response times for whatever reasons, this is probably the trend they are speaking of.

Sometimes, no matter how fast units get to a scene or how fast knockdown/VES is commenced, it isn't enough to save anyone, regardless of circumstances.

what good is a FF if he wrecks on the way to the firehouse or to the scene...no good.....take your time out there.
