Description Of Incident: Room & Contents Fire

New Canaan dispatched for smoke in the building. Pre-arrival update was that homeowner was working on house, power surged, and there was a "heavy" smoke condition. Volunteer firefighter living in the neighborhood confirmed smoke condition and observed visible fire.

Car 1 arrived on scene and confirmed a structure fire. Occupants had evacuated. Smoke visible from A, B, D side roof line. Kept to a 1 alarm fire and had all units continue in. E1 stretched two lines to interior attack. Fire was held in check with water cans until lines in position. L3 positioned on A side. E2 reverse laid to hydrant. R5 and E4 staged and provided manpower.

Fire was in the kitchen walls extending to the B side. External fire visible in B side soffit. Interior attack knocked down main body of fire. Post control overhaul and salvage ensued. Smoke condition throughout structure vented with PPV.

Wilton was assigned RIT. Noroton Heights covered the firehouse.
