I got it as a kitchen fire.

they tore down the restaurant part of the hotel. the debris from that caught fire. the restaurant shared 2 common walls with the hotel. it was a quick knockdown with no extension to the hotel. no injuries. i believe only a fairview engine stood by in elmsford fire hq.

Hawthorne's engine was never requested like ladder55 said only an engine from Fairview was requested to stand by in Elmsford's HQ.

Is there any idea as to how the debris caught fire? Was there any damage to the hotel itself?

No damage to to the hotel and not sure what the cause was.
