I'm not much of a pro on how 60 works, but wouldn't it be easier to tone people out on 46.26, and have X amount of departments operate on 46.14, and others on X frequency, or (shudder) go to a higher band frequency??

Example: I buffed out in LA County last year, they announced alarms on a main freq, then had two or three battalions operating on a particular frequency.

Sample: Engine 36, Engine 236, Light Force 127, Truck 105, Squad 36, Battalion 7, Residential Structure fire, 2306 East 215th Street. Cross streets of Walk and Don't Walk, units utilize blue 3.

I think the same could work in Westchester, Tone em out over 46.26, Units responding to the reported PIAA on 684 in Bedford utilize F-3.

JBE, Thats how Putnam does it, Dispatch on 46.38 and we sign enroute on 46.44/46.54 and then go to Channel 4 (Carmel uses channel 2, Brewster uses channel 3 this wasy nobody steps on anybody. It is very simple and works effectivly.

The saddest and most frusterating part about 46.26, is that it really doesn't have to be "Utter chaos"....if everybody just learned to work together, upgrade technology, be professional on the radio, and respect one another then things would work a lot better until another solution is found.

Why does everyone need 60 Control to hold their hand and tell them to switch? A smart IC would make this choice themself. An even smarter Department would create an SOP stating that once on scene, everyone comes off 46.26. If you keep getting stepped on, why do you think your "speaking up" is solving the problem?

So many Westchester Departments have their own frequencies now. Why don't they switch to them? Use the Fireground channels too!!!!

That's what we've begun to do in BM. Dispatch on .26 and intradepartmental comm's on WC-Fire Ground Ch#8. We also utilize our repeated "Band Aid" freq. too.

In a couple of weeks we'll be moving to our new and improved system, anyway. =D>

I'm sorry pbvpm, I have read lots of your posts, and I know nothing about you, where you're from, or whatever, but your posts tend to get annoying... Are you making a point? You seem awefully bitter about all of this... If you don't have anything useful or intelligent to say (other than bashing people who seem to enjoy what you are so miserable about) then go away. If you hate your job, do something else. Stop knocking the people who enjoy what they do, and take pride in it. Maybe if you did, instead of just getting agitated at everything people say here, you would be a happy person and this wouldn't bother you as much. Most of the time the reason people respond the way you seem to be is because of jealousy for some reason...? Besides that, if you don't care about the radio (or 10-codes, since I read over and over again your useless posts their), then why don't you just let the people you bash talk on it? If it means more to them, then who cares? Why do you have to make a bitter issue about things...? I can't imagine how well you get along with people...

As for the communications issue. I am a fairly large supporter of the centralized 60-Control for most departments, however, that also has its cons. Besides that, most importantly, I think having your own frequency, or deciding which fireground to use for your own operations would be a standard to start from. Beyond that, there is a serious upgrading that needs to be done in the county for all Emergency Services. I wouldn't say it's impossible or won't happen, but it definitely is going to be gradual and take some time.

First of all I haven't bashed anybody on the radio codes except I stated something about 10-75 being FDNY talk, I also have a different opinion on 60 control, Its not the answer for everybody at this time- they need massive changes in there everyday work, just my opinion- and just because you can say what you feel, so should I regardless of what what you think. You even stated 60 control has its pros/ and CONS, so whats the problem. So I guess this is useful. some people on this site feel if you don't agree with them , then your someone trying to start trouble. :-k

I disagree with that. When you are negative about something constantly, and fail to suggest a constructive solution, or fail to provide rational and exlained reasons or proven examples, then it is just blindly negative, IMO. So if the afformentioned are not stated, than what is the point...trouble???

IT isn't negative, I just don't think 60 control does a good job and their needs to be changes- and I don't have the authority to change it. So just because I don't agree it doesn't mean I'm negative. That just my opinion and thats my point. 8-[

We aren't picking on you at all, we're just saying to try and be a little mose sensitve to people. It is true that you have posted a few things that were...a little rough around the edges...if you know what i mean. This is supposed to be a site for people to enjoy, not get made fun of.
