Croton man shoots, kills self outside village offices, police say

CROTON-ON-HUDSON - An 81-year-old man who shot himself in the head yesterday afternoon was found dead by an officer in a municipal parking lot adjacent to the police station and Village Hall, officials said.

Leonard Berkowe's body was found about 4:20 p.m., dead of a shotgun wound, according to the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office.
