I'm just curious, I read in the incident alert Beekman 34-71 was responding to the structure fire driver alone for rehab...what is Beekman's 34-71? Is this a rehab truck or a utility with rehab equipment on it? Thanks ahead for the input.

Thank you all for the input...now one more thing, are there any apparatus specifically assigned for rehab for working fires? Or are ambulances called in and set up for rehab. I know here in Westchester, Ive heard Beeline Busses getting specially called to fire scenes for rehab...does dutchess have anything like that available?

It all depends on the department in Dutchess. Some departments such as East Clinton have a rehab unit, where others just utilize ambulances for them, as you saw today with the Beekman fire.

Mobile Life Support has 3 Special Operations Response Team vehicles that can be sent to any incident in their coverage area (or outside if requested by a mutual aid agency). Each vehicle has command information, rehab supplies (both water/gatorade and ALS supply), cots, misting fans, EZ-UP tents, lounge chairs, oxygen manifolds for multiple patients, etc. etc.

Not in Dutchess, but Somers FD in Westchester has a rehab unit. It is a converted bus with rehab and monitoring supplies. It is available for mutual aid anywhere. It is a great resource to have on scene.
