Yonkers PD alert tones?

What's up with the YPD doing alert tones several times per hour followed

by nothing broadcasted???

Maybe this is an laert for laptop/ MDT data being sent out???

we don't hear any tones in the radio cars or the portables... it's not coming from headquarters as far as I know

i know some times i hear a tone and it is tone that is crossed by 60 control

Doc, are you hearing the channel identifier? We only use alert tones on felonies and such that are in progress or to air bolo's.

Looking at RadioReference.com, Yonkers PD shares frequencies with Mohegan Lake FD (453.2750MHz) and West Harrison FD (453.9250MHz). Most likely it is Mohegan, as WHFD's repeater is now on 472.2500MHz.

on my scanner when I listen to YPD channel 2 (453.2750) I can hear the fire tones being dispatched over it every now and then but thats about it. This brings back memories of the old recording every hour of KJR433 !!!!
