Millwood Fire Department gets grant for radio, pagers

MILLWOOD - The Millwood Fire Department is passing out nine new pagers to members and installing a portable radio in a utility vehicle thanks to a grant from the Fireman's Fund's Heritage Program.

The $6,172 grant came about after a local insurance agent approached the fire department to see if it would be interested in applying. Eli A. Abemayor, an executive vice president with GLN Worldwide, had earned enough points through his business with the Fireman's Fund to direct the grant to a local department. Abemayor lives in the Chappaqua portion of the fire district and said Millwood firefighters have helped him out several times.
