A car struck a state trooper, along with two other people, during an accident investigation Sunday night on Moseman Avenue. 

Neither the trooper nor the two people — a man and a woman from Mahopac — were seriously injured in the 9:10 p.m. incident, although all three were taken to local hospitals, police said. 

The accident remained under investigation yesterday, and the 18-year-old man driving the car that struck the three could face charges, police said. 

Trooper Keith Heptig was investigating an accident and had stepped outside his cruiser near 22 Moseman Ave. Standing with him were Sharon Snyder, 34, and Roland Lex, 41. Police said the three were struck by a northbound 1996 Ford Taurus driven by Matthew H. Leighton of Livingston, N.J. More troopers responded along with firefighters and ambulances. 

Heptig was taken by ambulance to the Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, where he was treated for bruises to his lower back. Snyder was taken by Somers Ambulance to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment of scrapes to her right arm, and Lex was treated there for injuries to the left side of his body, including his ribs, police said.

you know what kills me more than anything... not that these happen on the emergency services point of view... but that people driving are sooooo preoccupied that they cant notice a stopped vehicle, let alone, likely one with emergency lights and are unable to act and correctly adapt to road conditions.

You're right mikeinet, it is sickening! Who knows, they're either reading the paper at the wheel, on the celphone (with 2 call waitings) or on too many meds........

The less time you spend on the roadway is the less chance you have getting hit. Do the job, then GET OUT.
