New Lionel trains modeled after New York City subway cars on view at Grand Central

NEW YORK - Lionel unveiled its newest model trains today fashioned after the city's subway cars.

The subway miniatures, licensed by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, were paired with with the recently released Metro-North train set during a morning press conference at Grand Central Terminal.

The trains will be featured during the Grand Central Terminal Holiday Train show, which begins today and runs through January 19.

$600 for a train. Is that a normal price?

Well if you want a bigger one it'll cost you more. :D

Those collector trains can get up there in price. My Grandfather collects them and just like every other niche its big $$$.

If it's a good quality replication, this is a fair price. A single locomotive from a quality manufacturer can EASILY top $1,000, depending on material and features.

Lionel is one of the best model train companies that are out there as well as American Flyer. If you are a serious rail fan and model, expense is nothing.
