Structure Dover Plains - 11/18/08

19 posts in this topic

A few shots of the Structure Fire in Dover this afternoon, M/A from Pawling. Wassaic, Amenia and Millbrook. I got there late so this is pretty much after the fire was knocked down. Kudos to the aggresive attack by the JHK crew of Firefighters Mirande and Busa with a 2 1/2" line, great job guys!!!

why is the truck so far away from the building ? Does it just look like it is because of the angle the pic is ?

Looks like a good stop by JHK. One question though what kind of garage was it? like a mainenace type?

And I even made to work on time.

The metal structure is a garage formerly used by a bus company. It was just renovated as far as I know and is to be metal shop or storage for metal, maybe x129x or JHK3605 can provide some further details as it is in their district.

Hahaaaa - Good point Bill!

I did manage to get a few pics while taking a breather... This job could have been much worse, but like Mark stated, an aggressive job by the first in line REALLY saved the joint.

Had the fire been in the office area of the building, it would have been a different story.

Sorry so fuzzy...thats bothersome.

Yes, the truck was not positioned QUITE right, and pretty far for the effective use of the ladder. It turned out Ok, because we threw a ground ladder in a much better spot, allowing me access to the roof above the fire, however, no cut was needed and the roof was never accessed.

I don't believe the buses ever used this building, they used the one in the front. However this has been used and probably been renovated several times the ones i know about was a cement place (ie blocks) and a tire recycling place ( can you say poly tech)

Nice pics Mark and Dan

Nice pics Dan, thanks for including me in your group photo ops, yeah I know it's the blue gear, but you let Johnnie B sporting his "borrowed" blue coat in. :(

Seriously, I have some proof that I actually went, glad to see some pics of me working, usually taking the pics myself. Is it ok to copy these to our site and give you props as always.

Mark

Yeah Tom everyone did a great job, we were short handed, all the hunters must have still been in the woods.
