ELMSFORD - A toppled utility pole closed Route 9A between Route 119 and Interstate 287 for more than three hours this morning and disrupted telephone and electric service in Elmsford, Greenburgh police Lt. Chris McNerney said.

Route 9A was reopened by noon, but phone service to fire and police departments remained out as of 1 p.m. Fire and police can only be reached by 911; the non-emergency numbers are not functioning, Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams said.
