Westchester aide Kriss resigns amid criminal charges

Westchester County Board of Legislators senior aide Gary Kriss resigned last night, just hours after prosecutors charged him with using a subordinate to design book covers for his novels and do personal tasks on county time.

The short, handwritten note was faxed to board Chairman William Ryan last night, indicating Kriss, 64, was "exercising" his retirement option. It came after a special committee recommended yesterday that the senior aide to Ryan be fired.
