SAN DIEGO -- A fire truck skidded out of control Tuesday, ramming several parked cars on a rain-slicked street in Hillcrest.

This accident occurred shortly before noon in the 3600 block of First Avenue after the truck hit a curb and jack-knifed, NBC 7/39 reported. Five vehicles were damaged in the accident, two of them badly. There were no injuries reported.

The fire truck was responding to an alarm when the accident occurred. Dispatchers sent another crew to investigate the 911 call, which proved to be unfounded.

SDFD is conducting an investigation to see if rainfall played a part in the accident, according to public information officer Maurice Luque. The truck is out of service pending repairs.
