Clarkstown man's body found in Hudson; police think he fell from boat

By Jenna Carlesso • The Journal News • October 14, 2008

STONY POINT - Divers working in the dark retrieved the body of a man who had apparently fallen from his boat at the Stony Point Bay Marina on the Hudson River last night.

The 57-year-old Clarkstown resident, who was not immediately identified, was found dead shortly after 8 p.m., bobbing in the water beneath a dock next to his 29-foot Signature cabin cruiser.

Officers from Stony Point's police and fire departments, along with the Rockland County Sheriff's Marine Unit and the Thiells dive team, reached the marina about 8 p.m. after receiving calls reporting someone struggling in the water. They found the man beneath a wooden dock with his boat's engine still running, police Lt. Peter Quinn said.
