Roscoe-Rockland voters reject firehouse proposal for 2nd time

ROSCOE - Voters in the Roscoe-Rockland Fire District rejected a proposal for a new $2.45 million firehouse by a vote of 200-106.

Timing is often everything grasshopper. I have a pretty good feeling that this story will be the norm as more and more referendums start falling. Gotta have good PR in times like this and in some areas depending on the socioeconomic demopgraphics and the relationship with the public asking for a firehouse renovation might not be the best unless you do your homework.

You can have all the PR you want. The price of commercial/municpal projects is still sky high and creates a sticker shock to most and folks can't afford it no matter how "affordable" you make it seem.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps we've finally seen an end to the era of the Taj-Mahal firehouse. Not that I'm implying that this particular referendum was for such a house.
