WESTPORT, Conn. (Sept. 27) - Paul Newman, the Academy-Award winning superstar who personified cool as an activist, race car driver, popcorn impresario and the anti-hero of such films as "Hud," ''Cool Hand Luke" and "The Color of Money," has died. He was 83.

Newman died Friday after a long battle with cancer at his farmhouse near Westport, publicist Jeff Sanderson said. He was surrounded by his family and close friends.

When I used to race, I saw him at Lime Rock in CT all the time.... Rolex 24 at Daytona too.

Not a fan of his politics, liked his movies, enjoyed his food, loved his presence on the race track.....

Not only an extrodinary actor, but an amazing humanitarian who made thousands of peoples lives better. It's a shame that he had to be taken after a battle with cancer.
