why did the FDNY scuddle the boat?? did they get anything for turning it into a fish house??? I know some fire departments that could have given her some TLC and used her for fire and rescue operation.... Its sad to see something like this happen unless there is some major structual hull damage to the boat.

It was done, finished. It served for a long time and the cost of keeping her servicable was just too great. Also, with the new SAFE boats that are available, (like the Coast Gaurd 27's) the older vessel is not very well suited for rescue.
