Peoria, Il PD LODD

Quote from the Secret List:

Hey...

When we get these about the police---we are reminded that the same situation exists for us when going on emergency calls--like we saw earlier this week in Kansas...so we occasionally send these non-FD related details out on The Secret List. Today, Peoria, Illinois police officers are mourning the loss of one of their own who was killed in a car crash last night. Officer Cristy Tindall, 33, died from injuries received in the collision. She was responding to a call for back-up. Witnesses say the police car hit a pole after coming around a curve. The force demolished the car and threw the engine about 30-feet away into the grass. Tindall was a 10-year veteran of the police force. A second police officer in the car survived.

Not unlike us in the FD, crashes are the leading cause of accidental death for on-duty police officers across the country according to the FBI. The FBI found nearly 56-percent of victim officers killed between 1994 and 2003 died in car accidents. The same research revealed more law enforcement officers die between 6:01 p.m. and midnight than any other time of day.

Take Care-SLOW DOWN-BE CAREFUL,

BillyG
