Public Safety Messages On Apparatus

2 posts in this topic

It seems that slogans on apparatus are becoming more and more common. Often, these slogans are only understood by those "in the know", and serve no real purpose, in my opinion, except to display tradition and pride.

I'm wondering why I don't see more meaniful, professional messages on apparatus, especially PSA's. And just the standard "Dial 911" doesn't cut it. I find it perfectly fine to display company pride, but sometime I percieve that more effort is put into the slogan then another message which could potentially be a lot more benficial to the public.

Here are two examples:

We have several rigs with messages in other languages such as in china town and there is a sudenese one to advise them of various things such as change your smoke alarm battery.

Also its not uncommen for the union to spread messages on the side of trucks.
