Hose Lays - What do you think of these lays?

3 posts in this topic

What do you think of these methods of streching hose?

"The Bundles"

and

The Apartment Lay

These seem pretty good but may take too long for some buildings because of fire load and/or the construction of the fire building (The TRUSS).

What do you think of these methods of streching hose?

The Bundles and The Apartment Lay

Did not like "The Bundles" too short and likely to kink

We use the apartment Lay, but I think our straping is faster/easier to release (plus its attached to the hose so its less likely to get lost.

We carry 2) 75' x 2" lines with a striaght tip. Each rig carries an extra length for buildings with a longer stretch.

they connected to the standpipe outlet ABOVE the fire floor does anybody see something wrong with that SOP? I am not a big fan of showing the world on YOUTUBE how your dept does things. it may work for you, but it isnt the accepted standard. on that note what size hose does your dept use for standpipe packs? How many feet? and what kind of nozzle and if smoothbore, tip size?

there is no absolute right way to do this. Manpower/ conditions will dictate what works best for YOUR dept. the great debate over why fog nozzle or why smoothbore, why or why not 1 3/4", or 2" or 2 1/2" hose. Maybe with some input from this forum it will help a member understand why they carry a particular setup. And if it is truly the best for thier dept.
