Bravo to them if it works to find alternate funding, particularly if it saves taxpayer dollars for the "the taxpayer's will never go for it" gang.

This has been tried in the past. Several years ago the Chief of the Houston, TX FD was going to offer advertising on fire apparatus but canned it after pressure and crying by numerous groups. I found it to be innovative and a way to try to get funding for additional staffing and equipment, but some traditionalist didn't. It works in many cases for transportation systems, so why not us? If you could have a strong policy for types of advertising...I wouldn't have any problem with something on the side of the apparatus if it gave the ability for more staffing, equipment and no cries of we can't afford it.

Open your minds...and your a** will follow!
