Location: 7400 block Zephyr Place X South Big Bend Blvd.

Departments: Maplewood PD, Missouri State Police, St. Louis County Police; Maplewood FD

Description: FD and PD arrived for a vehilce fire and were fired on by a suspect on arrival. A 22-year old rookie firefighter was shot and killed. (2) Police Officers were shot and transported, (1) critical. Suspect barricaded in a home and set it on fire. PD called in an armored vehicle from a near-by military base.
