Big Burley Firefighters

6 posts in this topic

I got this from the Lohud article on the Yonkers fire:

Yonkers flooded the area with about 50 firefighters, who had to deal with not only the heat, but also the repeating gunshot-like sounds of firecrackers, as they secured the injured men and then attacked the fire with 5-inch lines to keep it from spreading.

No my questions are:

If it is a standard firefighting tactic that you back up the original line with one of equal or greater size, what size back up line does Yonkers use?

What size tip is on the 5" line?

 You gotta love the Journal News

How many FF's were on that 5" attack line ? Was it a standard engine company, or did they have to special call additional units for this special ops ??

Why not stick 2 combo nozzles on the end with elbow adapters so they point straight forward? 2 streams with 1 hose!
