Chicago Police Officer Richard M. Francis Star #5276 was fatally shot by EDP who wrestled away his service weapon while responding to request for assistance from CTA bus directly across from Belmont (19th) District station at approx. 0230 on 7/2/08.

Officer Francis served in as a USNavy SEAL in Vietnam and had been a police officer for 27 years.
