You need to be more specific in what you want to know. Are you talking about certification? or patient care?

NY dictates what is als, which techincally is the "I" "CC" and Paramedic. The EMS regions further dictate what they can do in accordance with their level of training. Westchester EMS Region, doesn't recognize CC, which I believe there are none.

As far as patient care, if its fits within a paramedics ALS protocol, or judgement to ALS a patient under Protocol #1 Routine medical care then its ALS.

ALS (Advanced Life Support) is classified as a Paramedic (EMT-P), and in some states, Intermediate EMT (EMT-I). ALS interface on EMS runs usually includes serious calls in which the capabilities of the BLS (Basic Life Support/EMT-B) Ambulance are not sufficient for complete patient care; for instance, EMTs cannot administer drugs, but if they receive a call for a patient in respiratory distress, the Paramedics can assess the patient and administer drugs at the scene or en route to the hospital, if necessary. In short, Paramedics receive a higher level of training and have a broader scope of practice than that of their BLS counterparts.
