Somers- 1st Heart-Safe Dept in Westchester

On Sunday morning, our "PR" pictures were taken, with the current 2 Chiefs and 4 Commissioners, with our 18 Defibrillators.

The picture was for "Size- Up" magazine, the periodical of the NYS Assn of Fire Chiefs.

The Somers VFD, and Somers Fire District is the 1st Heart-Safe Department in Westchester County and one of the first's in NY.

A Heart-Safe Department is an FD that ALL of it's firehouses has PAD's (Public Access Defibrillators) and ALL of it's front-line apparatus is equipped with Defib's.

Somers currently has 18 Defibs in Service in the following locations-

(4) All firehouses (PAD)

(1) Each- C2441, C2442, C2443, C801, 80B1, 80B2, 80B3, 80U4, E180, E181, E183, E186, E188, and L18.
