Dobbs Ferry PD-Police Boat

5 posts in this topic

Dobbs Ferry Police have recieved a donation of a former small trailer type Coast Guard patrol boat (Sorry, I'm not a very knowledgeable boat person...maybe T4 or DFFD227 knows better of what type of boat it is)

Plans are to start a marine patrol in the spring, staffed 40 hours a week with the rest of the staffing on an on-call basis. Several officers will be trained. Estimated cost is $2,500 a year. Rumor is that Tarrytown, Hastings, and Irvington are considering similar programs.

I don't beleive so. I think that the Greenburgh boat was assigned to the Fairview FD Marine division, and that GPD also got one for the flooding over in Elmsford by Brookfield. This is a completly new additon if I'm not mistaken. The Town of Greenburgh did assist them with the aqquisition though, I believe.

So who will have in the Hudson River now PD-wise with staffed patrols? Yonkers PD ESU, Westchester County Police, and now Dobbs? On the other side, is it just Rockland Sherrif's, or does Bergen Sheriffs do something as well? Who am I missing/forgetting here or screwing up?

I heard that surrounding PD's of Dobbs Ferry do not want to get involved with this new project...I think they all have the right idea =D> ...IMO I just don't see this being so productive...But I guess we will have to sit back and see whats going to happen... :-k
