From firefighterclosecalls.com secert list comes report of the tragic loss of another FF in Pennsylvania, Friday afternoon.

We have been advised that Firefighter Herbert C. Caldwell III (Newberry Twp FD) died Friday afternoon at approximately 1700 hours while responding to a reported fire in Newberry Township, York County, PA. Firefighter Caldwell was 49 years old and well known in the fire service with 35 years of volunteer service in Cumberland and York Counties. During his years of service he held various positions in several area departments including Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, and Firefighter. Caldwell was also a municipal police officer. Firefighter Caldwell leaves behind a wife Debra and three sons, Herbert IV - age 13, Bradley - age 11 and Brandon - age 7. Services for Firefighter Caldwell will be held at the Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at 10:30 AM. Viewing will be held Monday, December 20, 2004 at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry. A memorial fund is being established for the family.!
