Tarrytown FD and VAC were paged out, but were told to cancel the response shortly thereafter. This would have been our 5th jumper since March 1.

With the economy the way it is and getting worse everyday, I would not be suprised if this continues to happen more times this year.

If the press and society keep paying so much attention to it it will continue to increase. Stop reporting when they try and when they succeed, just like they do when some choose to hop in front of a train.

Unfortunately, very public suicides make news, while very private ones rarely do. It should be reported when civilians go above and beyond the call of duty to prevent someone from taking their own life, and risking the lives of others.
