Photo OPP FDNY 13th Batt. Units

9 posts in this topic

This Saturday unit's from the 13th Batt. and other S.O.C. unit's will be at West 168th Street and Fort Washington Ave (Columbia Presbyterian Hospital) for a drill. So if you would like to get some shots of FDNY apparatus this would be a good chance. If you need any info on how to get to the location please let me know as I will be at the drill site assisting with the tour of the hospital for the unit's.

looks like the 13th batt is hurting apparatus wise!

Are they just off-shift guys using spare apparatus so the frontline pieces stay in service, or are all these rigs really out of service?

Thats par for the course in the big bad FDNY. Dangerous spares putting guys lives at risk every day. There no such think as off shift training. The city would rather just put a company off service. At times truck co's can't even get the proper vehicle as a spare and have to sub a ladder for a TL. Segrave is building a badly needed contract right now.

A lot of those shots look familiar, considering I have spent the better part of two months going in and out of that hospital. Funny I haven't run into Chris yet. As far as spares are concerned, it's ridiculous. Tower Ladders driving Rear Mounts because there are no TL spares, and I don't think the department wants to get into the refurb business. Would probably be a good move.

PS nice shots.
