New Haven,CT Firefighter Bails Out Of Ambulance To Assualt Attorney

11 posts in this topic

Interesting story.

CT. FIREFIGHTER BAILS OUT OF AMBULANCE-UNUSUAL FIREFIGHTER CLOSE CALL. A New Haven (CT) Firefighter jumped out of a moving ambulance Friday night when he saw his estranged wife with her divorce lawyer on the street...and he started a confrontation...leading to his arrest. Reports are that FF Matt Kennedy was working when he jumped out of the FD EMS unit and assaulted his wife's attorney. FF Kennedy was charged with violating a protective/restraining order that his wife had against him and he has now been placed on administrative leave. The NHFD Chief calls the incident disappointing and embarrassing.

It sounds, from reading the article, that he may get fired,or at leas suspended without pay. He needs some help for this.

He was in trouble either last year or the year before do to an incident with another firefighter at his firehouse as the article stated. NHFD's chief is not happy at all about the situation.

depends on whether his wife was with the attorney or is she "WITH" the attorney...?

were they meeting to go over paperwork, or meeting to go to a hotel together? you never know....

Still no way to represent yourself, or your agency, ESPECIALLY while in an apparatus, and in uniform. That just brings a bad name to the FD as WELL as ALL FDs/Rescue Squads.

In the paper today, the lawyer that was assaulted is quoted that he is not seeking to press charges. And also the accusations about the improper "lawyer / client privilege" were not true. FF Kennedy was bailed out yesterday ($50,000 bond) on the charged of violating the 150 foot protective order set by his wife. He is expected to be in the chief's office sometime soon and the lawyer involved does not want to see him fired or removed from his job.

Lets face it, though it was very unprofessional in what he did while on the job, he could have done this regardless of what his job was and we might have never heard about it. Hopefully for the sake of his family the issues will be resolved during their stressful period.
