Washington Heights fire feud spurs call for outside chief

"TOWN OF WALLKILL — The long-standing rift between the Washington Heights Fire Commission and its firefighters is no secret.

But the rift is now so deep that the commissioners are considering bringing in a new fire chief from outside the district.

"We're looking at a chief from the outside because they (the fire company) won't give us any other candidates," commission chairman Wayne Clarke said.

The only candidate the fire company wants is ex-Chief Gordon Healy, who was suspended from his post last month...."

Pure, unadulterated political BS. Nothing more, nothing less.

I live in this district, and have "limited" first-hand knowledge of the issues at hand. It's just as the article says.....a long-time grudge/feud/vendetta.....call it what you will.....that has escalated to the point of a commissioner using the power of his position to get back at those whom he does not like.

It's just sad.
