Croton - Working Railcar Fire 12/6/04

Location: Croton-on-Hudson/Croton Fire/MTA MNRR West Yard behind 1 Senesqua Road (F.A. Burchetta Electric)

Frequency: 46.26/46.04/453.025

Units Operating: E119, E120, E118, TL44

Description Of Incident: Fire in an abandoned railcar full of large spools of wire and other copper piping. It was being demolished by torches, and the contents ignited. Main car involved spread to a nearby passenger car as well. E119 First in, stretched 2 lines and put them to work. E120 provided additional water. E118 & TL44 staged on Senesqua Road and remained available for additional alarms. Fire was under control in 25 minutes, overhaul was performed by an MTA-contracted excavator.
