Scanners: Programming Help Sites

4 posts in this topic

post-128-1200839720.gif

With the proliferation of new scanner technology and Trunked Radio Systems being widely deployed, it is important to find out how to program these new receivers in order to obtain the most benefit from them.

Additionally unless you have a newer trunk-tracking capable scanner, monitoring a Trunked System talk-group's conversations becomes difficult if not impossible to follow.

Fortunately there are many websites with much of the necessary information.

Help is often only a few clicks away, and questions posted here at EMTBravo Network are always welcome.

I have a few sites here, but please feel free to add any sites you have that can expand the list.

Thanks Jack, the radioreference site has many frequencies listed and ideas for mounting scanners in vehicles.

Listed below is maybe not as good but worth a look.

Download the ARC software for your model scanner from BuTel and run it from your desktop.

You can create and upload only a fixed number of "systems" (for a trial period) after which you will have to purchase it.

The Butel software programs for the BCT396T and BCT996D are similar to the BCT15 in setting up and loading the information into the respective scanners.

Note: A RadioReference premium subscription is not required if you choose to manually create systems using the ARC software. Part of the following is based on having a paid Premium subscription, which permits you to easily import system parameters from RadioReference.com, directly into the ARC software. I recommend a subscription to simplify life.

Start the ARC15 Program, and Click Internet/RadioReference/Trunk Systems:

Step 1- Create the system using RR WebService Download (RadioReference Premium subscription required)

Step2- this is what downloads after you click "create System" and expand the system browser (left window)

Step8- You're ready to send the system you created to your scanner

Step9- check "send selected systems," then click the green tab to complete.

A free 30 trial is available on www.Butelsoftware.com Version : 1.4 Build 4 . Download ARC-XT . It allows 5 systems to be sent to scanner at a time and is good for 30 days.

Note : A USB cable is a separate assessory to be purchased. This is in place of the old style serial port attachment that is included with the scanner.

More information from www.scannerworld.com or www.scannermaster.com
