9 People Injured In Queens Fire Truck Crash

NEW YORK -- Eight people were injured, including six firefighters, when a fire truck collided with tractor-trailer in Queens on Thursday, WNBC.com has learned.

Initial reports indicated that the tractor-trailer driver had died.

Other sources have the total number of injured at 9.

That's horrifying the impact the Engine took! Thoughts and prayers are with the brothers involved, as well as all other involved in this tragedy.

I can't believe the damage! Some force these guys must have took. But I guess that says something about side impact protection I guess. Glad the brothers were protected by a sturdy cab, although I do hope to see side impact airbags become standard one day as well.

Were they wearing seatbelts? Because looking at it, and knowing that most of us rarely remember to put them on enroute to a call, if they weren't they've got to be pretty banged up.

This was a quote from the article on firehouse.com. Hope it wasn't true.

"Five firefighters were transported from the scene and rushed to Jamaica Hospital. They were reportedly sitting at various places of the fire truck, and witnesses say some of them may have been thrown from the truck".
