QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

NFPA 1001 Firefighter I &II

NFPA 472 HAZMAT Awareness and HAZMAT Operations certifications

Applicants MUST possess Firefighter I and Firefighter II, HAZMAT Awareness and HAZMAT Operations certifications that are recognized by one of the following: Department of Defense, the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Professional Qualifications Standards (PROBOARD). You must provide information pertaining to your current certifications with your application. Your application will not be rated without certification information

Must pass a performance related test will be given to determine the ability to perform job related tasks such as lifting heavy fire fighting equipment, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying people and equipment for rescue and salvage.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties of this position require strenuous physical activities and selectee will have to pass a physical examination as part of the final selection process, if no other acceptable evidence of physical suitability exists. IN ADDITION, a performance related test will be given to determine the ability to perform job related tasks such as lifting heavy fire fighting equipment, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying people and equipment for rescue and salvage. SELECTEE MUST PASS BOTH REQUIREMENTS BEFORE START OF EMPLOYMENT.

FOR GS-05 ONLY:

1. Knowledge of basic fire fighting theory, Principles, and procedures

2. Knowledge of fire fighting apparatus and their maintenance.

3. Knowledge of fire safety requirements and practices.

4. Knowledge of special fire extinguishing agents and their application.

5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
