Tappan Zee worker claims employers tried to kill her

News 12 Westchester

(12/19/07) NYACK - The only female worker on the Tappan Zee Bridge is once again taking on her employers, accusing them in a lawsuit of trying to have her killed.

Last spring, 36-year-old Julia Basile, of Nyack, won $200,000 in a sexual harassment suit against her co-workers. Now, she names the New York State Thruway Authority in a new suit and claims her employers tried to cause her death several times.

The suit says Basile’s employers ordered her to perform work on scaffolding that was deliberately rigged. It also claims they tampered with fuel tanks and her welding truck.

Just one day after the federal lawsuit was filed, Basile says she received a phone call from the Thruway Authority in Albany. Basile says authority representatives offered her a chance to be relocated from the Tappan Zee to work on smaller bridges. She says she would also be assigned her own truck.

However, Basile isn't satisfied with the proposal and wants to fight it out in court
