STAMFORD - C.J. Sweeny lost his battle with leukemia last week, but his friends and family members aren't giving up the fight.

To celebrate the life and spirit of the 14-year-old, they will hold a downtown 5-kilometer run Dec. 30, with proceeds helping to cover C.J.'s medical bills and benefitting groups that tackle leukemia and Down syndrome....

....The Run for C.J. will start at the Athlete's Foot store at Ridgeway Shopping Center on Summer Street, continue on a route that includes Washington Boulevard and parts of downtown, and end at the shopping center.

Carry on: The Run for C.J. 5K Road Race is slated for Dec. 30 and kicks off at Ridgeway Shopping Center on Summer Street. Register by Dec. 26 for $18. After that, the cost is $25.

For information, call 323-3101.

C.J.'s father, Chris, is the proprietor of Murphys Townhouse on Franklin Street in Stamford, a favorite after-work spot for many police, firefighters, paramedics and dispatchers.
