Massachusetts EMTs Difficult to Keep

EMTs are now advancing to become paramedics, making careers of their emergency medical service work and earning wages of about $50,000 per year, with retirement benefits and paid vacation time, said County Ambulance President Brian Andrews.

It's not just limited to any one region of the country. EMTs become Medics, Private Service Medics leave to become FF/Medics. It is a viscious cycle. Private companies need to find ways to retain these type of people, and have a revolving door of employees.
