World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.

That being said, while we remember those who we know or have known who have been affected by HIV/AIDS, we as Emergency Responders must also remember that we often put ourselves at increased risk of a contracting a variety of diseases for which there are still no cures. Always wear your PPE! An ultra-thin layer of latex could save your life.
