Donations will mean happy holidays for soldiers overseas

Soldiers overseas will soon receive stockings full of candy, hot chocolate and other goodies that have been collected by the Semper Fi Parents of the Hudson Valley.

The donations of food, clothing and games are being collected at the Poughkeepsie Galleria today and Sunday, as part of the organization’s Operation Santa campaign.

"This is the third year," organization founder Paula Zwillinger said. "Every year it seems to get bigger and bigger."

Semper Fi is asking the community to part with something small or large and to help spread some Christmas spirit among the soldiers who won’t be home for the holidays.
