Battery Powered Extrication tools

3 posts in this topic

I have seen on the market battery powered extrication spreaders/cutters that run on 24 or 18 volt dewalt type batteries. Does anyone have these in their department that could give any feed back?

I believe that's the Halmatro model.

We looked at the Curtiss-Wright Power Hawk system and are purchasing it for our new Rescue.

We also looked at a newer tool, at the Firehouse Expo, I forget the name of it, but it does not meet NFPA standards, so we did not set up a demo.

I haven't heard much about the Halmatro electric, but the Power Hawk has been out for a while, and has been tested and proved, and will work great in Somers.

Are battery powered devices as strong as hydraulic powered devices??

Is this system going to be primary or supplemental?
