Armonk Ladder?

7 posts in this topic

I was driving through Armonk recently, and realized that I have never come across the Armonk ladder, and I don't remember ever seeing it registered with DES so I assume that they don't have one. However there are some buildings in Armonk that are at least 2 stories (I'm sure IBM is big too, never seen it though) as well as some homes, and I always thought if that was the case you had to have an aerial device? Maybe im wrong, does any one have info on this?

No your right we don't have a ladder. But we have managed very well with the use of our ground ladders. But usually if we do need a ladder we have Banksville on the northern end and Chappaqua on the souther part by 120 and Whippowill, and Mt Kisco just down the road on 128. Granted we have a very close relationship with Banksville because we cover the transporting for ems call in Banksville, so we tend to call them more.

One thing that has been a talk around the firehouse lately is replacing one of our ambulance with one that might have 4x4 package after this past winter. With these massive twisty driveways we found it intresting in all that ice last winter. Another thing that has been an intresting conversation peice on the firehouse floor is a new rescue. With many different views of whether it will have a pump or not. But nothing on ladder truck just yet. Maybe someday who knows.

Im actually a member in the Chappaqua FD, so thats interesting to know even though I have never been over to Armonk in our ladder, but Im only in for a couple of years so who knows. I remember seeing a post a little while back about an IBM brigade, but I don't think there is one for the HQ in Armonk, I assume that you guys are responsible for it correct? Also I have been unable to get any pictures of your appratus, EMS and fire, and the Armonk FD website doesn't seem to work for me. Any way to get some photos? Also what rescue do you guys run now, I believe it is an engine rescue?

The Armonk link at Westchester DES Fire Links site works fine for me.

Kudos to you guys for not buying a ladder just because you didn't have one and using the adjoining communities resources when the need arises. As has been stated before, not every department needs to have everything, especially in Westchester where we can get just about anything in a short time.
