License Plates Blurred Out In Appararatus Photography?

9 posts in this topic

Can somebody tell me this. I see certain pictures of apparatus, with one of the license plates blurred out. But then.. in some other pictures, the other license plate is exposed! For excample. Look at , I believe it is, Newton's Dive Rescue truck. You'll see what i mean.

Somebody answer? What exactly is the question?

Guess I forgot that part. My bad. The Question is, Why is one plate blurred out, but not the other? I figured if one was blurred for safety reaason, why isnt the other?

My guess: Just an oversight.

Usually, especially more recently, photographers have been blocking out licence plates of vehicles so that owners have privacy or that a fraudulent licence plate cannot be reproduced with the letter / number combo. Usually you see this more on privately owned cars.

More than likely its just an oversight by the photographer who posted the NUSAR pics.

As a rule of thumb for myself as our Depts. webmaster, I blur out all license plates and bystander's faces. Give anonimity and respects privacy for any victims of incidents that I put on our webpage.

License plates aren't private and are easily viewable on the street by anyone, I really don't see the point of blurring them out, but it seems to be the fashion these days.
